We all wish we had a job where we at least make $5000 a month. But how can we do it? And what kind of people earn the most money?
There are so many factors that determine how much money you’ll be making including:
· What you studied
· How many years you’ve studied
· The school you’ve studied in
· Which kind of job you’re applying to
· Your power of negotiating
· The company that will hire you
But there are two main factors that can play a huge role in determining the income you’ll be getting each month or year. The first one is the skills you have, if you’re one of the few people that have skills that are high in demand but have a low supply, then you will certainly be paid well.
It doesn’t matter if you can speak in 40 languages if no one is hiring for that. But it will matter if it’s high in demand. So if you have a RARE but a WANTED skill, you will be one of the few people that earn the most money.
And the second one is your personality type, now we all know that genes are a matter of DNA. So even if we want to, sometimes it can be hard changing your character and your personality overall.
So as well know there are 16 different types of personalities, some have similar traits while some are VERY different. So what happens when these 16 personalities undertake a survey to determine if their character has anything to with how much they earn? Well, it’s a tough truth. But it seems that some personalities just have better chances at landing high-paying jobs while some aren’t that lucky.
How do we know this? Well, career Assessment site published an infographic that clearly shows that personalities have everything to do with household income.
How was this survey done?
To come up with that infographic, 12 000 had to participate in the survey. They had to share their personality traits, income, age, and everything related to income. With this information, a personality test was done and it showed that some people that fall in the same category of personality, made almost the same amount of money. But with some little differences.
This wasn’t applicable for everyone as there were some expectations. But all in all, the general rule that came up was: Personality type and income were correlated.
What personality made the most money?
Not surprisingly, ENTJs & ESTJs were at the top of the list and on the other spectrum, INFPs were the last. But what is ENTJ & ENTJs anyway? Well, it stands for “Extroverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging”& “Extroverted, Sensor, Thinking, Judging”. This type tends to be the one that makes the most money.
Why is that?
This type has a tendency for being a great leader thanks to their abilities and skills that help them to make the right decisions. They can solve problems easily because they have an analytical mind. They can plan on short and long-term and analyze situations objectively and effectively. This helps them in finding creative solutions.
It seems that if you’re the thinking type you’re more likely to make money. This doesn’t come as a surprise since they’re more likely to think about their decisions thoroughly before making any steps further.
In general, extraverts make more money than introverts, thinkers more than feelers, sensors more than intuitives and judgers more than perceivers.
Extroverts tend to make more money because they’re able to communicate well, create new connections and widen their network. This helps a lot in a world where “who you know” matters more than “what you know”. But it’s not that only, extroverts tend to manage people very well so in most cases they find themselves attracted to positions of leadership. So they’re more likely to have a supervisory role or a managerial one which means they’ll be paid more.
So why do judgers earn more than perceivers? Judgers are able to structure and organize their time, plan, goals and teams, so they’re more responsible and more objective. This enables them to work hard and as much as it’s needed to succeed in their career. They can fight impulses and desires that will hinder their success.
And that is why ENTPs make more money overall.
Why do INFPs make the least money?
INFP stands for “Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving”. If it isn’t obvious until now why this type makes the least money then this will clarify why.
This personality type tends to be more introverted and prefers to stay in their comfort zone. This means less connection with people, less networking, and less building contacts. This stops them from perceiving new opportunities and stop them from seizing chances.
They’re also not good in managing people so they try to stay as far as possible from positions of leadership. This means missing out on high-paying jobs and positions just because they don’t feel comfortable around people.
Because they’re more intuitive than sensors, they tend to follow their gut and apply for jobs just because they seem good. They tend to like careers that offer more freedom and flexibility and that demands more creativity.
They tend to steer away from jobs that demand commitment and that needs organization. So you’ll probably find INFP being writers, artists and so on.
And because they’re not thinkers, they can’t make objective decisions; they’re always worried about other people and putting other people’s needs above theirs. So they can’t make for example a decision for the benefit of the company if it’s going to hurt the employees.
He says it is important to note that these are “averages” and it does not mean that you cannot make a great living while having the INFP personality type.
Being a perceiver means having less commitment and following your desires. This type values fun and leisure more than money. Which is why they tend to make less money. So you’ll find this type of living away from their life and having fun while you’ll probably find judgers in their office working.
Now although this study showed this general rule, that doesn’t mean you’ll have to bend for it. You can always make money even if you’re INFP. But there’s one thing we haven’t discussed, and it’s being satisfied in your own job.
Because INFPs follow their gut and feeling rather than money, they’re more likely to be happy in their jobs than ENTP & ESTPs. Which is the most important thing after all.
